Cleo Smith A Missing Girl, Found 2 Weeks After Being Abducted
Cleo Smith a 4-year-old girl was abducted at night during the family’s first night on a family trip at Blowholes Campground between 01:30 and 06:00 on 16 October. The remote site in Macleod is about 900km (560 miles) north of Perth and is known for its windswept ocean scenery, sea caves, and lagoons.
A 36-year-old man who had a doll obsession kidnapped her. A massive land and sea search were mounted and an assumption was made that she had wandered from the tent.
But more evidence began to support an abduction. It seems like he had stalked Cleo and abducted them when he thought it was a good time. Some intelligence reported there was a car speeding late at night on Tuesday.
A task force of 100 officers was sent in from the state capital, Perth, to join a massive air, land, and sea search.
“We were … looking for a needle in a haystack and we found it,” Blanch told Perth Radio 6PR. “Whilst we were all hoping and praying as the days went on, I think the chances of finding her alive were so slim,” he added.
Authorities offered a A$1m ($750,000; £540,000) reward for information on Cleo’s whereabouts.
They got intelligence about Cleo´s whereabouts police said it involved information about a car, but would not elaborate.
ABC News reported a man who lived at the house had been recently spotted by a neighbor buying nappies.
“We didn’t click who… he was buying them for,” the neighbor was quoted as saying.
Police smashed their way into a suburban house on Wednesday and rescued a 4-year-old girl whose disappearance from her family’s camping tent on Australia’s remote west coast more than two weeks ago both horrified and captivated the nation.
“It’s every parent’s worst nightmare. The fact that that nightmare has come to an end and our worst fears were not realized is just a huge relief, a moment for great joy,” Morrison told reporters.
“I’m beyond relieved. The nightmare is now finally over for Cleo and her family,” Western Australian Premier Mark McGowan posted on social media.
